Baby Shower

My friend, G, held a very nice baby shower for my on Sat. It was a nice intimate group and I loved being able to get out of the house and spend some time with the girls! We played The Price is Right and then did a Mad Lib about my trip to the hospital. Boy was that funny...Firemen, dump trucks, ears, 17cm...you had to be there :) Anyway here are a couple of pictures.

I want to be a Fire Fighter when I grow up!!!

On Saturday, we went to the Wee World and they had all kinds of things for the kids to do on top of a huge consignment sale. JJ absolutely loved the fire truck and sitting in the seats.

I am officially 37 weeks and 3cm. Also 70% effaced. The doc says she should be seeing me next Wednesday so there should be no baby in the next week...

Breakfast anyone?

Apparently I didn't get out of bed fast enough to get JJ breakfast this morning.
And of course he picked out the sugar cereal daddy thought he would really enjoy. Well at least I can throw the rest of it away when he is done with it this morning!
I thought he was playing with his Thomas the Train set, but he must he have sneaked off downstairs to the pantry at some point. Good thing vacuums were invented!

Tanya, look who I found on the table today!

And with the pepper shaker and scissors!!! Yikes!

Gardening

It is that time of year in TX to start getting your flower beds lookin' good! I couldn't believe there were flowers at Home Depot the other so I just had to ask if I could plant them already and sure enough I did it!

Basic Training

John's nephew Finally graduated from basic training this weekend. I say finally because for the past 2 years or so the family has been told he is leaving for basic training for one of the branches of the military and then never does. So when I heard it this time I said I wouldn't believe it until I saw it myself! His dad and fiance came down to see him graduate and stayed with us. It was a houseful -- aka a lot of work for me. I need a break! For the next two days I am vegging and enjoying the very quiet house (they like to talk --A LOT). So anyway, I had to take a picture to prove to everyone that it actually happened and I made John stand in it with him so you all can see him in his flight suit...

Grandpa's visit...

So the past week has been a bit crazy so I haven't been keeping up with my blogging duties - sorry! JJ we think was constipated and not sleeping well, thus mommy not sleeping well. And I spent all day Saturday getting my hair done at the aveda Institute where a friend is going to school so the usual cut and color took all day instead of a couple of hours! My dad was in town on business this weekend so he stayed with us until yesterday. JJ sure enjoyed having a grandpa to climb on! The weather has been absolutely georgous (sorry to all you northerners!). Today it is expected to be 80 and sunny! I better be outside all day! Oh wait John's brother-in-law is coming in on Thursday with his son's girlfriend to see him graduate from basic training on the other side of town. Needless to say I have to get the house clean again and make up the beds! Being 7 1/2 months pregnant, this is no small task.

Big Boy Bed Time

I decided on Friday that this is it - JJ needs to start sleeping in his toddler bed. So far so good. I decided today to just take the crib out so that it is no longer an option! Hopefully all goes well this week!

Cookies

Yup, girl scout cookies are officially available in San Antonio! They are a terrible, terrible thing when pregnant! I picked up three boxes today and had to ask how long they would be for sale in case I need more this week! Those thin mints are oh so delicious and the samoas are just as good! I better slow down or there won't be any left by tomorrow!

Preggo Belly....You asked for it, you got it!

I am almost 32 weeks!

Who Turns 30 Today???

That would be John! I have been giving him a hard time all week that he is old now!!!

Happy Birthday John!

Peanut Butter and Hair

Thankfully we didn't get the peanut butter in the hair today! Although it probably would have helped it stick up some more! Peanut butter on a spoon is JJ's new favorite snack or today lunch.

Monster cookies!

JJ was actually picking out the chocolate chips and reeses pieces and eating them! He knows what is good for him! The monster cookies are delicious! Here is a recipe(which is actually a quarter of the original! The original makes a TON of cookies):

1 cup brown sugar
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup margarine, softened (I don't put margarine in my recipe and they turn out great!)
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon light syrup (Karo or pancake)
1 1/2 cups peanut butter
2 teaspoons baking soda
4 1/2 cups oatmeal
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
4 ounces M&Ms plain chocolate candy or M&Ms peanut chocolate candies (I used Reese's Pieces last night)

Mix ingredients in order given.
Drop by teaspoonful on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes (they don't look done, but they are!).

PS. You HAVE to notice the shoes JJ is wearing in these pics. That is my favorite part of the pictures!

Another finished project

Here is JJ's rag quilt I bought material for over a year ago! I finally finished it! He loves it and it will be on his big boy bed once he transitions to that! It is made out of flannel and I cut 8 in squares and sew leaving one inch to cut for the rag part. I made this one 10 squares by 8 squares. It is actually a lot bigger than I thought it would be!

What a beautiful day!

Today was the first nice day out in quite a while here. It is 65 and sunny. But it isn't going to last long. Tomorrow it is going back down to the 40's. John spent the afternoon cleaning the back patio and the windows. And we gave the dogs a bath. JJ was a bigger helper cleaning the patio furniture. I meanwhile got to clean the kitchen and living room.

Pregnancy Update

I had a routine check-up today. The baby sounds great and I feel great. BUT, I failed the routine blood glucose test. It may mean nothing, but I do have to go in at my next appointment on Feb. 1st for a three hour test. I have to fast from midnight on up until my test is completed the next day at 11am. They test your blood every hour for those three hours I do believe. So I will bring a good book (maybe Anne has a suggestion or two for me!) and have a few hours to myself while a wonderful friend watches JJ for me!
Hopefully today was a fluke and I don't have gestational diabetes. But the thought of not eating or drinking for that long doesn't thrill me either. Thankfully this isn't anything too serious. I just may have to be a little more health conscience!

"The Arctic Blast" as they call it down here...

Is just a bit of ice...and well more ice to be exact. The San Antonians are having a rough time dealing with all this "cold" weather. Here are a few pics around the house of the weather this morning. If we are lucky this ick ends today. I don't so much enjoy only because we are cooped up in the house.

New Post

Ok, so now that I have messed with the colors and format of my blog I guess I should post something new, eh? We went to Michigan for a week of holiday festivities and boy did we stay busy. Between visiting family and spending an evening with friends there wasn't much time for R&R. BUT, it was enjoyable spending time with family. JJ wasn't really into the present opening this year. I had to hold them for him and show him wear the paper was partly torn. He is loving his new toys though! Grandpa K made him a house out of a cardboard box and he loved that along with a flashlight. We turned out the lights and he had a blast. Why do we buy toys again?

Chocolate!

JJ found the bag of chocolate chips while I was making cookies. I had left a few in the bag for myself if I needed a chocolate fix, but apparently JJ needed one before I did!
Earlier that day he had fallen asleep on the steps. I tried to get a picture of him eating his teddy grahams while nodding off, but when I came back with the camera he was in this position!

Finally, the kitchen is complete!

We got the countertop in yesterday for the island and got it installed this morning.

Sleet

Yes, it is actually sleeting here today. You should here the comments from the weather people on TV! They keep telling us to be prepared for the cold and to wear heavy coats, etc! It is hilarious. Of course when you live in ND for 4 years this weather is nothing compared to that up there! I just think I am secretly enjoying all the whiners and moaners down here about this icky weather!
