Sleep
This is Maddie's new sleeping arrangement, per Maddie. I was not ready to move her out of the crib. Before John left he insisted on moving Maddie's big girl bed into her room from the basement(I found a mouse surprise and he didn't want them making a nest in the mattress). All week I keep hearing a particular phrase from her as I put her to bed. I could NOT figure it out until nap time yesterday. She wants to sleep in the big girl bed. Soooooo, we tried the nap and she slet. Then we tried bedtime last night and she slept! Removing all the books from her headboard bookshelf was completely necessary, except for the three tiny boardbooks.

Scrapbooking.
I am such a slacker in this area. I have JJ's done up to his first birthday. Maddie has an album with absolutely nothing in it. I have made several different plans with girls to get together but they always seem to get messed up. Soooo, I have vowed to start working on them. I uploaded a bunch of pictures yesterday and had them shipped to the house so I don't have to get out and get them. My next step is to get the basement organized and all my other craft things put away. I know it won't take forever, but it seems like such a daunting task. But here's to scrapbooking!!!!

Family Foto
Well here it is! We always take one before he leaves. It's been a whole 24 hours since he left the house and has arrived at his first destination. He'll be at the final destination in a couple of days. We are doing fine. Maddie doesn't understand and keeps asking for daddy. JJ is consistently asking to play Frisbee. I definitely don't want to be playing in 30 degree weather.

Boring
I have been so not in the mood to blog in forever. I don't know what my deal is. I just feel like there isn't much going on here. Of course we are busy but nothing news worthy I suppose. We don't have any snow on the ground which is good for driving purposes, but if it is going to be cold I would prefer to see pretty white over the brown grass.
It has been good to get home and be on more of routine since getting back from Michigan. The kids are sleeping better!!! Maddie had to go to the ER Friday night for her ear infection once again. Things are good now, but getting this antibiotic in her is proving to be more difficult.
John is leaving again for the same sandy place a week from today for another couple of months. Maddie has become a super daddy's girl and I think will miss him terribly as will JJ and I. We'll get through it as always :) I have some pretty amazing friends here and afar!
Happy New Year!!!

Goodbye Codes
On Monday we had to put Cody to sleep forever. His heart failure was just making him miserable -- he was sleeping all day and night except to eat and use the great outdoors. The last straw for me was arriving back at my dad's where Cody was staying and watching him barely walk to the car to greet us. I could tell he was happy to see us, he just couldn't get there as fast as he wanted. I am super sad about it, but I am grateful the kids are young enough that they don't understand. He was such a loving dog. We will definitely miss him!
Bad blogging...I actually wrote this last week...
I just realized I haven't blogged in over a month! What have I/we been doing you ask? Well, of course there was the "family time" after John got home and then it was Thanksgiving. I cooked for 4 adults and 5 kids. It took me 3 days to get it all done! John did the usually Black Friday shopping, on that Saturday we turned in both vehicles for newer ones. Yes, we are crazy. I am driving an '08 Ford Explorer and John is driving an '03 Pontiac Grand Prix. Mind you, this was not my idea.
When I thought I had a few days of down time before packing to drive to Michigan, John decides to take a few extra days of leave to start our trip earlier. But, before we left JJ wasn't feeling so hot so I took him in and he had bronchitis and pneumonia. Luckily, he got better before we left. We finally arrive in Michigan and Maddie starts a fever and feeling crappy so I had to take her into urgent care to find an ear infection. We have never had an ear infection in the house before. The next day JJ gets the runs and more fever for two days. So the first week of MI was shot with illnesses and recuperation time.
We spent the first few days at my dad's, then headed up to John's dad's, and now we are at my mom's. It's the only place I'll have the net on our vacation. We head back to KS on the 29th. I have a camera, not sure if I brought the cord so I can't promise any pictures anytime soon!

Yes, It's True. I am turning 30 - tomorrow.
From L to R:
Meredith, Kristin, Julie, Amber, Me, Laura, Erika, Heather, Melissa.
So I gathered all who dare to be seen with me in public and dragged them to Old Chicago with me. I had a wonderful "Chicago Seven" calzone and a delicious Pomojito. YUM!
In the top picture I was totally caught off guard with the whole "Happy Birthday" song from the servers. It just so happened that they snuck up on me in the middle of the giggles from a joke Amber was re-telling me. I was crying from laughter. It was hilarious! The only non-hilarious part was that they announced to everybody within hearing that it was indeed my birthday and also that is was my 30th birthday. As if I wasn't humiliated enough!
But who am I kidding, it was a blast!

Trick or Treat, Smell My Feet!
Well, we at least got the kids to say Trick or Treat and thank you. Maddie refused to leave the stroller. I think she was tired. Here are the kids with our neighbor friends. Nate is JJ's fave buddy and Maddie's too. She runs around the house saying "Nay, Nay, Nay!" when he is coming over.

JJ's Update
Claire, the occupational therapist, called yesterday afternoon. Here is our update. She wants to see him once a week for about three months to start. What she saw in the test results were that he needs work on oral sensories, sensory tone(his muscles), and his eyes(the tracking). Once we get in there, she may want to change up our plan but for now she is going ahead with once a week. We just have to wait on good ol' Tricare to approve it before we start. I am actually very excited to get him started. And I am especially glad we can correct his eye tracking before he starts to read and write in school so he doesn't get behind!

Update On Lil' Man J
At JJ's last gymnastics class a month ago, I met a fellow mother of a child with sensory issues. JJ is fairly mild, but to me it's not quite "normal." Meeting this woman at the Y had made up my mind to get him checked out again. I got the doc to refer us out to an occupational therapist for an evaluation.
He did do some OT when we lived in San Antonio, but they deemed him good when we left so I didn't continue when we got here.
Today was our evaluation. The therapist did her thing with him and I had to fill out a form as well. After scoring both by Thursday I'll hear back from her. But, from her evaluation today she can already tell that he has tracking problems with his eyes, which means he can't follow your finger with just his eyes. He moves his entire head. This is something a child learns to do at about a year. She wants to refer him to a specialist for it. She also mentioned he has a problem with his mid line. I'll get more info on that when I talk to her next.
The other thing she noticed about him, would be the lack of muscle tone in his hands and arms. So on Thursday, I should hear more!
This picture is of JJ last week on his way to AWANA. It was crazy hair night :)

Fall is Here
I know I have not been keeping y'all up to date on the Langworthy bunch. John's been gone just over 3 weeks and I have been running around like crazy this last week. It started with me volunteering to bring food to my church small group Sunday evening. And on Monday I hosted the squadron's spouse's group at my house. That took a lot of cleaning and cooking! I had a couple of days off before I had to get ready for the baby shower I was throwing with a friend of mine for another friend on Saturday. And I also had to make a dessert for a church ladies night on Friday.
Maddie had her 18 month check-up on Friday and is under weight(22lbs and 33.5in tall). But she eats everything insight so I don't think there is much I can do. She just has a high metabolism! Lucky girl.
We had nice weather over the weekend(80's) but now it is in the 60's and rainy. But I was kind of sick of the warm weather and am welcoming the cooler air that is coming in.
John calls about every other day and is doing just fine. He flies about 3-4 times per week and is spending his off time at the gym or studying for his master's class he started a couple of weeks ago.
Me at the Mexican fiesta at church Friday night.

Maddie's cheesy grin :)

Maddie in JJ's old overall's that I girlified...
And this is JJ with bedhead.

Our college age neighbor went to a bible college and had to do an internship ministering to children. She has been teaching JJ bible lessons the last 6 weeks and he is finally finished!

Water Balloons
This is Maddie's face after she pops a water balloon in the grass. There are also sound effects with this, but obviously you can't here them. It goes something like "ahhhh" :)
Here is JJ throwing one into the grass. I encourage only throwing them to the ground vs. at each other. I am not ready to start that yet!

And this picture is JJ's handy work. He loves taking pictures. He doesn't do such a bad job either.

My Front Yard
After I was given this lovely sign to put in my yard and a nice gift card to the local nursery, I was told my yard better look better than it did at the time I was being notified I was a winner. Lawn inspection day is Wednesday so I usually don't mow until Tuesday. I was notified on Monday. What I really wanted to do is yell at the man telling him my husband is deployed, I have two small children, and I have other personal issues way more important than my yard looking "pretty" for their enjoyment. But I kept my mouth shut and mowed my lawn. I'll take that gift card any day!
