It's Been Six Years!

Yesterday was our anniversary! John treated me to an excellent spa day and he is getting a new MP3 player. Can you believe JJ took the picture of John and I last night after we went out to dinner? I think we have a little photographer on our hands :)

Random Stuff

The kids enjoy playing hoops in the kitchen and Maddie REALLY enjoys her watermelon. She has to eat it outside to help reduce the clean up time!

A World View From the Eyes of a Child

Tonight at the dinner table I had a hard time deciphering what JJ was trying to tell me.

"Mom, the sun is sick."

"What?"

"The sun is sick."

"Oh, really?"

"Yeah, it needs to go to the doctor."

"Ok, Maddie has to go on Tuesday so we'll take the sun with us."

"Ok."

"Mom, it's cloudy out."

Ahhh, now I get it! JJ thinks the sun is sick because it is cloudy today! Kids say the cutest things.

Summer Camping Trip

John got home safe and sound, and yes there are pictures, but my friend took them and I haven't gotten them from her yet. We left Sunday for a place called Cheney Lake about 45 minutes west of here. We rented a little cabin in a state park which had a decent beach that the kids were not interested in :(

It rained one day so we found a kid's museum, which turned out to be a glorified play/toy area in an old movie theatre in an old ghetto mall. On the way home we stopped by Yoder, a small Amish town for lunch and picked up some fresh sweet corn.

The neighbors shared a pinata with the kids and WAY too much c-a-n-d-y. We also found a small town Fair last night. It was your typical small town America, made for movies, picturesque little town and Fair with petting zoo, carnival, great homemade food, 4-H, and softball tournament. Everywhere we went John was striking up conversations with people and we couldn't pull him away from them! It was insane.

At the campsite(cabin for us lazy people who don't want to pitch a tent) we found a huge field of wild blackberries that JJ couldn't stop picking and Maddie wouldn't stop eating. But JJ wouldn't share the berries he was picking with Maddie, but he wouldn't eat them either. We had a few bonfires and cooked some good campin' food. One morning we made omelette's in a bag. First you crack eggs in a freezer Ziploc bag, squish them up, add your fixin's and then put the bag in a pot of boiling water over the campfire. I roasted marshmallows every chance I could get. I have decided that is one of my favorite things to eat!

Happy Dance!

John is coming home in exactly 3 hours and 16 minutes! But who is counting anyway? What I am excited about especially for JJ and Maddie is that we get to ride on a bus out to the flight line and meet the guys/girls as they get off! That never happened in GF when John deployed. We made a paper chain last week to count the days until daddy comes home and JJ has been so excited to tear one off everyday. And today we threw the last one in the trash! Only 9 more weeks until we get to do it all over again. Blah!

Having Fun at the Pool

JJ was being a really nice boy and sharing his ever so sacred bag of Cheetos with his buddy, Nate.
Maddie was gobbling up her goldfish while being patient with the other kids.

Maddie didn't want anything to do with the pool so she just sat and watched the other kids. The water was a bit chilly from the rain we had the other night so I can't say I don't blame her.

Music Help!!!!

Apparently having kids has left me out of the "what's hip" in the music world. I don't have a clue and the stuff I have been finding I don't like! I am looking for tunes for my ipod to go to the Y. Any suggestions????

The Bubble Man

The Bubble Man has arrived! The base library has been doing a reading club all summer as do many libraries I am sure. Every Friday they have some new entertainment. And today it was this magical man. Well, he didn't actually keep the attention of most of the under 3's. He did a lot, and I mean a lot, of explaining of bubbles and why they are a sphere and why they pop, etc. JJ was the least bit interested. I thought it would be more of a room full of bubbles for an hour. But anyway, the kids had some fun and we weren't in the house.

Once the camera has been turned sideways, I have no clue how to put the video upright. Sorry!

We are boring, yes I know....

We haven't been up to much lately. Just waiting for John to get home. We've been to the park and to the water fountains. Anything to stay cool and somewhat busy...

My New Bag and JJ's PJ's

I made these a while ago, but just forgot to post them. This is my new bag I have been carrying around and these are the pj's I made JJ. The material was picked out by him last year so I can't take credit for it's hideousness.

And THIS is why I love base housing...

My oven is broken and *poof* they magically bring me a new one! So far in the past 8 months of living here I have recieved a new garbage disposal, dishwasher and now the oven! I am so glad I don't own this house :)

She Had to Leave :(

But we had a wonderful time! The kids just couldn't get enough of her!

She Has Arrived!

The maid aka my mom! She has been here less than 24 hours and has finished all the laundry, swept, mopped, vacuumed, made a pot of vegetable beef soup, made dinner and breakfast, cleaned the kitchen, cleaned 2.5 baths and is finally in the shower cleansing herself! And no you can't have her! :) Thanks mom, I love you!

Play Time

Pool, bubbles, snacks. What more could a kid want?

What is Wrong With This Picture?

This is how the bowl was returned to me after snack time was over.

My Flowder's - As JJ would tell you...

These are my hollyhocks one week ago today: And here they are as of tonight!

Seriously!?! Why now?

I have been feeling pretty sluggish and have had a sore throat since before John left on May 3rd. I went to the doc a couple of weeks ago and was just given some drugs to help with the drainage causing the sore throat. It was still sore and I felt horrible over the weekend so I gave in and made an appointment this morning. They did a strep culture - negative. They sent me to the lab for blood work. It came back positive for Mono. So now I am not allowed to kiss anyone. Well, at least John is not home for that, right? But of course it is my luck that he is gone now while I am sick and of course it lasts forever! But really, I don't feel completely aweful. Just not completely myself.

Guess what this is?!?!?!

This is for you Cyndy! Well, he obviously has the container in his hands, but since everyone else's children seem to be playing with it mine thought he should too! There must be something about this age...hmmm

Zoo Fun

We went to the zoo yesterday. The weather was perfect and the kids did amazingly well. The zoo is really nice here and we'll definitely go again! JJ is at an age where he really has a blast seeing all the animals!

Exploration Place

I took the kids to the children's museum today with my mom's group. They had a blast.

Talkin' to daddy
