Monster cookies!

JJ was actually picking out the chocolate chips and reeses pieces and eating them! He knows what is good for him! The monster cookies are delicious! Here is a recipe(which is actually a quarter of the original! The original makes a TON of cookies):

1 cup brown sugar
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup margarine, softened (I don't put margarine in my recipe and they turn out great!)
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon light syrup (Karo or pancake)
1 1/2 cups peanut butter
2 teaspoons baking soda
4 1/2 cups oatmeal
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
4 ounces M&Ms plain chocolate candy or M&Ms peanut chocolate candies (I used Reese's Pieces last night)

Mix ingredients in order given.
Drop by teaspoonful on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes (they don't look done, but they are!).

PS. You HAVE to notice the shoes JJ is wearing in these pics. That is my favorite part of the pictures!

Another finished project

Here is JJ's rag quilt I bought material for over a year ago! I finally finished it! He loves it and it will be on his big boy bed once he transitions to that! It is made out of flannel and I cut 8 in squares and sew leaving one inch to cut for the rag part. I made this one 10 squares by 8 squares. It is actually a lot bigger than I thought it would be!

What a beautiful day!

Today was the first nice day out in quite a while here. It is 65 and sunny. But it isn't going to last long. Tomorrow it is going back down to the 40's. John spent the afternoon cleaning the back patio and the windows. And we gave the dogs a bath. JJ was a bigger helper cleaning the patio furniture. I meanwhile got to clean the kitchen and living room.

Pregnancy Update

I had a routine check-up today. The baby sounds great and I feel great. BUT, I failed the routine blood glucose test. It may mean nothing, but I do have to go in at my next appointment on Feb. 1st for a three hour test. I have to fast from midnight on up until my test is completed the next day at 11am. They test your blood every hour for those three hours I do believe. So I will bring a good book (maybe Anne has a suggestion or two for me!) and have a few hours to myself while a wonderful friend watches JJ for me!
Hopefully today was a fluke and I don't have gestational diabetes. But the thought of not eating or drinking for that long doesn't thrill me either. Thankfully this isn't anything too serious. I just may have to be a little more health conscience!

"The Arctic Blast" as they call it down here...

Is just a bit of ice...and well more ice to be exact. The San Antonians are having a rough time dealing with all this "cold" weather. Here are a few pics around the house of the weather this morning. If we are lucky this ick ends today. I don't so much enjoy only because we are cooped up in the house.

Needless to say, I think I am going to have my hands full in a few years!

New Post

Ok, so now that I have messed with the colors and format of my blog I guess I should post something new, eh? We went to Michigan for a week of holiday festivities and boy did we stay busy. Between visiting family and spending an evening with friends there wasn't much time for R&R. BUT, it was enjoyable spending time with family. JJ wasn't really into the present opening this year. I had to hold them for him and show him wear the paper was partly torn. He is loving his new toys though! Grandpa K made him a house out of a cardboard box and he loved that along with a flashlight. We turned out the lights and he had a blast. Why do we buy toys again?
